Who is God?

God is very specific and precise about the place where he meets with man (Exo.27). God the Father gives true bread from heaven: Jesus Christ, "the Holy One of God" (John 6.32-33,69).

Who is man?

Man participates in building the place where God meets with him (Exo.27; cf. Eph.2.19-22). Men come to Jesus for superficial reasons (John 6.26). Their need is deeper than they realize. But when Jesus offers to give them what the really need, they walk away (John 6.60,66).

Where is the Gospel?

The altar of sacrifice is required for man to meet with God. This was true in the tabernacle, and it is true of the superior and completely sufficient sacrifice of Jesus Christ on our behalf (Exo.27.1-8 ; cf. Heb.9.12-14). Jesus offers eternal life four times in John 6. This life is found by receiving food from Jesus (v.27), looking on Jesus and believing in him (v.40 & 47), and feeding on his flesh and drinking his blood (v.54-57; on this theme see also Exo.12.7-10; Luke 22.19-20; 1Cor.11.23-26).
