Who is God?

God works through and is identified with his people (Num.32.20-23). "Your way, O God, is holy. What god is great like our God? You are the God who works wonders; you have made known your might among the peoples. You with your arm redeemed your people, the children of Jacob and Joseph" (Ps.77.13-15).

Who is man?

Man may have mixed motives, and we can be suspicious of one another (Num.32.6ff). We have the capacity to either encourage or discourage one another with our actions (Num.32.7). In the circumstances of life, we at times question the unquestionable character of our God (Ps.77.7-9). In these difficult times we struggle to see our faith lived out in life. Psalm 77 instructs us that the way through is to meditate on how God has revealed himself in his word throughout the generations of those whom he has redeemed (Ps.77.10-12ff).

Where is the Gospel?

The one who wholly follows the LORD in faith will receive the promised life (Num.32.11-12; cf. Matt.16.24-25). How can we be confident in this salvation? By remembering God's saving acts (Ps.77.10-12). For example,"if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life" (Rom.5.10).
